Welcome to Department of Medical Imaging Technology Associate Professor Dr. Helen Head of Department of Medical Imaging Technology & Acting Head of Department of Radiotherapy Technology A.P Dr. Helen was born in Mogok, Mandalay Region in May 1972. She attained her M.B.,B.S Degree from University of Medicine (2), Yangon in 2001. She got the Degree of Master of Medical Science (Radiology) in 2007 from University of Medicine (2),Yangon and the Degree of Doctorate in Medical Science (Radiology) in 2017 from University of Medicine (1),Yangon. She was appointed as an Assistant Surgeon in Yangon General Hospital first. After getting the Master degree, she was transferred as a Resident Radiologist to Radiology Department of North Oakalapa General and Teaching Hospital. Later she was promoted as an Assistant Radiologist and moved to Radiology Department of the 100 bedded Mogok Hospital, Mandalay Region. After that she was transferred as a Junior Consultant Radiologist to Radiology Department of the 100 bedded Falam Hospital, Chin State in 2013.She learned Body Interventional Radiology in Pusan National University of Yangsan Hospital in 2015 as a Visiting Specialist.After she had got the Degree of Doctorate in Medical Science (Radiology), she was promoted as a Senior Consultant Radiologist in Radiology Department of the 500 bedded Yangon Speciality Hospital. Her background is Senior Consultant Radiologist and Interventional Radiologist.In 2018, she was promoted as an Associate Professor & Head of Medical Imaging Technology Department in University of Medical Technology, Yangon. She has been performing her duties as an Associate Professor & Head of Medical Imaging Technology Department and Acting Head of Radiotherapy Technology Department in University of Medical Technology, Yangon up to now. Associate professor - 1 Lecturers - 3 Assistant Lecturers - 6 Demonstrators - 6 Current B.Med.Tech(Medical Imaging Technology) students - 117 Current B.Med.Tech(Radiotherapy Technology) students - 21

About Department
Our vision
- Is to produce the qualified physiotherapists who will serve the community according to the needs of our country and to update and maintain the educational standards of the Physiotherapy at the International level.
Mission of our department
- To promote the role of physiotherapists by strengthening the professional competencies and management skill of these personnel through technical and educational workshops, training programs and refresher courses.
- Produce highly skilled physiotherapists who would contribute more effectively in the clinical practice and community based rehabilitation.
- Develop human resources that would be able to lead further development of physiotherapy education and research.
- Generate highly qualified and committed physiotherapists who would appreciate the importance of team spirit and develop strong ties among team members and other health professionals.
Departmental Aims & Objectives
B.Med.Tech (Physiotherapy)
Aim
To produce the qualified physiotherapists who will serve the community according to the needs of our country and to update and maintain the educational standards of the Physiotherapy at the International level.
Expected outcomes
At the end of B.Med.Tech course, the learners should BE ABLE TO:
- Have acquired requisite knowledge of medical conditions that can be treated by physiotherapeutic means.
- Use physical modalities safely and effectively.
- Demonstrate skill in performing therapeutic exercises.
- Attain the capacity of updating oneself by promoting self-learning and continuing education in order to keep abreast with on-going and changing trends of physiotherapeutic means internationally.
- Appreciate the importance of team work and be able to collaborate and co-ordinate with other health professionals.
- Be a competent, skillful and dedicated physiotherapist.
- Appreciate National health plan and health policy.
- Participate in primary health care as community physiotherapy.
M.Med.Tech(Physiotherapy)
Aim
To produce highly qualified and skilled Physiotherapists, educators, researchers in Physiotherapy in accordance with the National Health Plan and to update and maintain the educational standards of the Physiotherapy at the International level.
Expected outcomes
At the end of M.Med.Tech (Physiotherapy) course, the candidates should:
- have acquired knowledge relating to advanced physiotherapy treatment for conditions where physiotherapy is mandatory.
- be able to demonstrate technical skills and contribute more effectively and efficiently in the clinical practice and community based rehabilitation (CBR).
- develop human resources that would be able to lead further development of physiotherapy education and research.
- become highly qualified and committed physiotherapists who would appreciate the importance of team spirit and develop strong ties among team members and other health professionals.
Ph.D (Physiotherapy)
Aim
To produce highly qualified personnel who are expert in Physiotherapy to be able to serve the country as competent physiotherapists with academic, clinical and research skills.
Expected outcomes
When completing the programme, the graduate will be able to:
- have morality and ethics in profession and research.
- solve complicated problems in academic and professional contexts correctly and appropriately.
- havein-depth knowledge and skills on physiotherapy.
- update contemporary topics in professionaland pre-clinic and clinical related researches and analyze and evaluate professional research
- have new knowledge and innovation contributing to professional and health care management.
- be responsible to own or team’s work in productive and effective manners and have leadership skills in research and profession.
- effectively perform national and international research presentations.
