Two lecturers, Daw Saw Thu Wah and Daw Naw Sel Gay, and an assistant lecturer, Daw Thet Su Win, from the Medical Laboratory Technology Department,UMT,Y have got Capacity Building for Institutions in Myanmar (CBIM) Scholarship from Norway ( Norwegian-Mahidol Scholarship) and attending the 3 years PhD Course in Mahidol University, Thailand since July 2014.
An assistant lecturer, Daw Myint Myint Sein from the Medical Laboratory Technology Department, UMT,Y got short term training for 2 months in University of South Australia in 2014.
An assistant lecturer, Daw Aye Myat Mon, from the Medical Laboratory Technology Department, UMT,Y got short term training for 1 month in International University of Health and Welfare (IUHW), Japan in 2014.
An assistant lecturer, Daw Khin Aye Thin from the Medical Laboratory Technology Department, UMT,Y got short term training for 2 months in University of South Australia in 2016.
Faculty Exchange Programme
Assistant Professors of Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Chulalongkorn University conducted the Workshop on Molecular Biology: Tools & Application in Clinical Laboratory from 11-8-14 to 15-8-14 at UMT,Yangon.
Student Exchange Programme
Students from International University of Health & Welfare, Tokyo, Japan visited UMT,Y on 12-8-14 to learn the current situation of medicallaboratory technology in Myanmar.
Final year Medical Technology student from Mahidol University visited the Department of Medical Laboratory Technology, UMT,Y from 10-11-14 to 7-12-14 for internship training.

Programme Structure
The teaching –learning strategies will emphasize on problems based and self-learning in Histopathology and Cytology, Chemical pathology and Quality Control, Haematology and Blood Banking , Microbiology and Molecular Techniques
On-site practical bloc postings at various related teaching hospital laboratories.
Lectures, seminars, assignments, group discussion, practical, demonstrations, tutorials, problem – solving practices, journal reading and teaching assignments to undergraduate students.
The dissertation must be submitted to the board not later than three months prior to the final examination.
All staff of the department is involved in teaching of histopathology, chemical pathology, haematology and microbiology to B.Med.Tech( Medical Laboratory Technology) students except first year students and head of the department is also involved in teaching of General Pathology to all the second year B.Med.Tech students.
The department is also engaged in teaching of M.Med Tech candidates and also takes part in research projects ( dissertations) undertaken by M.Med Tech candidates.
